Biography Leschetizky Theodore (Fedor Osipovich)
(b. 1831). In 1852, Mr.. settled in St. Petersburg, where he soon gained fame as a pianist and teacher, took an active part in the organization of the Imperial Russian Musical Society and was one of the first professors at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Among his pupils belonged Esipova (later his wife, from 1880. to divorce in 1892). In 1878, Mr.. Leschetizky moved to Vienna. Beginning Leshetitsky methods described his assistant, M. Bree: "Die Grundlage der Methode L." (Mainz, 1902). written several fine piano pieces and comic opera "Die erste Falte", marching with success in Prague (1867), Wiesbaden (1881) and other cities. - See. A. Hullah "Th. L.
