Biography Ludwig Wilhelm Maurer (Maurer)
(1789 - 1878). A native of Prussia, came to Russia in 1806, giving concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg and entered bandmaster at public scene. In 1835, Mr.. became the conductor of the French theater in St. Petersburg, and so raised his orchestra, which gave him symphony concerts, which had great popularity. Since 1851. was inspector of music at the Imperial Theaters. Of the operas, ballets, overtures, symphonies, quartets, violin variations, duets and concerts Maurer enjoyed the greatest success of his Symphonie concertante for 4 violins and orchestra. Of the two sons Maurer, Vsevolod - violinist, and Alexis - cellist, highlighting the first (1819 - 1892).
