Biography Neff, Timothy A.
(1805 - 1876) was born in Estland. He studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Arriving in 1826. St. Petersburg, soon became known for his portraits and other works. In 1837, Mr.. traveled to Russia to get acquainted with the popular types and life. In 1839, Mr.. executed paintings for the small church of the Winter Palace, including the image of the "Last Supper". In response to images of St. Isaac's Cathedral became a professor. He taught at the Academy of Fine Arts, was curator of the Hermitage art gallery. Numerous works Neff, . . Talent Neff vividly felt in all his portraits, mostly women, staged by graceful figures on paints pleasant, though not always quite similar, because the author's desire to embellish nature. Other of his works, with the undoubted merits of design, color and letter are suffering, with few exceptions, the songs of coldness and weakness or artificiality of expression.
