(January 1548, Nola - 17/02/1600, Rome)
Pursued by the Catholic Church for his views, left Italy and lived in France, England, Germany. Upon his return to Italy (1592) was accused of heresy and free thought and after 8 years in prison burned at the stake. The name B. is the resurgence of occult mystical philosophy in Europe.
