Biography Fursa Georgy
Genus. 19.III.1933 g. Arkhangelsk. He graduated from the Physics Department of Leningrad State University (1958). D. F. th. n. (1973). Professor (1979). Akademik (26.III.1991), Vice-President (1997), chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Academy of Natural Sciences (1997). Specialists in the field of surface physics. Professor, Head of the Department of Physics, St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications (1975). Scientific research in the field emission electronics, surface physics of metals, semiconductors, conductive fluid in strong electric fields, physics of vacuum discharge. Found a number of new fundamental regularities of the phenomenon of field emission in conditions of extremely strong fields and high current densities and developed the concept of the mechanism of vacuum breakdown and vacuum arc (1961 - 1963). Received a record high field-emission current density. Opened a new physical phenomenon of explosive electron emission (1966) and studied it (whatever it was open to acad. G. A. A month is registered as a joint scientific discovery 24.VI.1976 g. ? 176). Together with the staff revealed the effect of explosive ion emission (1984). Found and described new mechanisms of hydrodynamic instability of a conducting liquid surface in a strong electric field (1980 - 1987). Performed the experiment, which allowed an adequate theoretical model of semiconductor field emission (1970-1980-e gg.). He taught also at Leningrad State University, in a number of foreign educational institutions. Organizer and Director of the Center for the electrical problems of the surface (1979). Vice-President of the International League for the Protection of Culture. Vice-President of the St. Petersburg Physical Society (1991). Member of the Presidium Rossiyskogo Physical Society (1991). Member of the Presidium of the Eurasian Physical Society (1992). Member of International standing committee of international conferences on vacuum microelectronics (1996). Chairman of the Section of Physics (1975), a member of the St. Petersburg House of Scientists. Member of the Council of RAS "Low-Temperature Plasma Physics" (1980). Member of the editorial board of "Journal of Micromechnics and Microelectronics (Institute of Physics Publishing)" (1990). State Prize for a series of fundamental studies of explosive electron emission and initiating its electronic processes (1978). Medal. P. L. Kapitsa.
