Biography ABU AL-FIDA
Born in Damascus in 1273. His uncle was governor of Hama and Syria. While in his service, Abu al-Fida participated in military campaigns against the Crusaders during the siege of Tripoli and Akka. In 1298 he entered the service of the Mamluk Sultan Al-Nasir, and in 1310 became the ruler of Hama. In recognition of merit the title of prince in 1312 and the title of Sultan in 1320. Abu al-Fida ensured the welfare of their possessions and built a magnificent residence in Hama. He is famous primarily as the author of two monumental works: the history of the Muslim world from 622 to 1329, . which paid great attention to Arabic literature and culture, and geography of the major regions of the Muslim world with a description of lands and cities,
