Biography Haya de la Torre Victor Raul
Born in Trujillo (Peru) 22 February 1895 in an aristocratic family. He was educated at the University of San Marcos in Lima. In his student years involved in organizing evening schools for workers. He played against the dictatorship of President Augusto Legii (1919-1930), for which in 1923 was expelled from the country. Settled in Mexico.
In 1924 in Mexico Ayia founded the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APRA). After the overthrow of Legii in 1930 returned to Peru and transformed the Alliance for National reformist party (Apristskaya Party). Won the election, Colonel Luis Sanchez Cerro, apristskaya party was banned, its leaders have emigrated. Aya was imprisoned, where he remained until 1933. From 1932 to 1940 the party was in hiding, until it was legalized by President Manuel Prado. In the presidential election of 1945 apristy, accepted for his party's new name - the People's Party, ensured the victory of JosцL Luis Bustamante. Aya became a minister in the new government and took over the levers of power.
Union president and leader apristov lasted three years. In October 1948 apristy revolt and the military coup. Aya took refuge in the Colombian embassy in Lima, where he remained until April 1954 when he was allowed to travel to Mexico. In July 1956, President Manuel Prado-and-Ugarteche lifted the ban the APRA, and in 1957 returned to Aya.
Ayia candidates are nominated by APRA in the presidential elections 1962. Since the election results brought into question, the question was submitted to Congress. Fearing the coming to power, the leader of APRA, the military again seized power, annulled the election results of 1962 and in 1963 held a new election, which Aya lost. After that Aya was unable to restore its influence in the political life of the country. Died Haya de la Torre in Lima, August 2, 1979.
