Biography Pietro Aretino (Aretino Pietro)
(1492-1556)
Born April 20, 1492 in the town of Arezzo (Tuscany), in the family cobbler. Regular education has not received. At age 14, left home, wandered, was a street singer, mule-drivers, an assistant executioner, according to some - galley slave. In Venice in 1512 published the first collection. He studied art at Perugia, but was expelled after the Virgin Mary depicted with a lute in the hands.
In 1516 he moved to Rome Aretino. There he wrote a witty satire of obscene testament elephant that drew the attention of Pope Leo X, against whom it was directed. Leo X found Aretino place at his court. After his death in 1521 Aretino sent his sarcastic pen against Cardinal Giulio de 'Medici, . later Pope Clement VII, . writing a few sarcastic poems, . dubbed paskvinadami (their texts were hung on the statue of Pasquino in Rome, . near Piazza Navona),
. Leaving from Rome during the pontificate of Adrian VI, Aretino returned there after the election of Pope Clement. But soon he was forced to flee the city: some of his most obscene sonnet exhausted the patience of ill-wishers. In 1527, Aretino found refuge in Venice, where he remained until his death. Aretino died in Venice of a heart attack at his home in Riva del Carbon on Oct. 21, 1556.

Aretino retains its value largely thanks to the letters, anticipating virtually all genres of modern journalism.
