Biography BEAUVOIR Simone de (Beauvoir Simone de)
(1908-1986) Born Jan. 9, 1908 in Paris, received a stern bourgeois upbringing, as described in her book Memoirs of a well-bred girl (Mmoires d'une jeune fille range, 1958). She studied philosophy at the Sorbonne, where she met with the leader of modern existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre. In the next two parts of the autobiographical trilogy, Power maturity (La Force de l 'ge, 1960) and the Power of things (La Force des choses, 1963), depicts her life and an associate student of Sartre. In the novels of Simone de Beauvoir developed existentialist ideas, the plot moves mandarin (Les Mandarins, 1954, Prix Goncourt) reflect the life events of writers from the environment Sartre. Essays S.de Beauvoir includes, among others, the work of moral ambiguity (Pour une morale de l'ambiguit, 1947), The Second Sex (Le deuxime sexe, 1949), Age (La Vieillesse, 1970). Publicistic book of essays, the second floor is devoted to women's issues and had a great influence on the feminist movement. Simone de Beauvoir died in Paris on April 14, 1986.
