James Arthur Baldwin (Baldwin James Arthur)

(1924-1987)
Born August 2, 1924 in New York. Senior child in a large family, spent his childhood in poverty in the slums of Harlem. The age of fourteen became a preacher in a Pentecostal church in Fayrsayd to reflect this experience in the first, partly autobiographical novel Go, and Broadcast from Mount (Go Tell It on the Mountain, 1953). In 1945 won the first of many scholarships and awards that enabled him to do literary work. At Rozenvaldovskuyu scholarship, on the advice of R. Wright, went to Paris, where he lived for nine years. Returning to his homeland in 1957, actively involved in the movement for civil equality - wrote articles, appeared on radio and television.
