Biography BOTA Pieter Willem (Botha Pieter Willem)
Born in County Pol-Roux (Orange Free State, South Africa) 12 January 1916. He studied at the University of Bloemfontein. The age of 20 became full-time functionary of the National Party. In foreign policy, Botha sought to weaken the national liberation movements in neighboring countries - Mozambique, . Angola, . . September 5, 1984 Botha was elected President of South Africa. In February 1989, after a stroke, he was forced to resign as head of the National Party. August 14, 1989 Botha resigned as president.
