Nikolai Bugaev

(1837-1903)
Was born in Tiflis province g.Dushet 14 (26) September 1837. The father of the poet Andrei Bely. In 1859 he graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow University, and then Nikolaev engineering school. In 1863 he defended his master, and in 1886 - a doctoral dissertation. Since 1867 - Professor of Moscow University. In 1891 he was elected president of the Moscow Mathematical Society. Within this framework there is Moscow philosophical and mathematical school, whose founder was Bugaev. In his writings he developed the mathematical theory of 'discontinuous functions'. Theory of continuous and discontinuous functions (respectively - mathematical analysis and aritmologii) form, on Bugaev, completeness of mathematical knowledge. However, his understanding of the discontinuity (aritmologichnosti) is not exhausted by 'pure' mathematical approach, and was of much more universal. Bugaev comes to certain metaphysical conclusions, arguing that the moral and aesthetic ideas of rights reflect the true ontological reality of the world and rooted 'in the very essence of things'. Ultimately 'aritmologii' becomes a kind of justification principle Bugaeva monadologicheskoy metaphysics leybnitsianskogo type. He calls his own theory of evolution monadology, in some important aspects different from monadology Leibniz. Thus, Bugaev recognized the diverse interactions of monads.
