Biography GUIRALDES Ricardo (Giraldes Ricardo)
(1886-1927) Born February 13, 1886 in Buenos Aires in the to-do family. From his childhood he lived alternately in Paris and Buenos Aires and the family estate. Journey in the literature began with a volume of poems glass bell (El cencerro de cristal, 1915), written in the style of French symbolism. In the same year appeared a collection of folk stories of the inhabitants of Pampa stories about death and blood (Cuentos de muerte y sangre), followed by a partly autobiographical novel Rauch (Raucho, 1917). Second novel, Rosaura (Rosaura, 1922), as well as other works of the writer, is imbued with nostalgia for his native land, past adolescence and departing into the past traditions of the gaucho. These sentiments are predominant in the most famous product Guiraldesa - novel, Don Segundo Sombra (Don Segundo Sombra, 1926, in Russian. translated 1960). The novel is written on behalf of the teenager ran away from home. The narrative is constructed as a chain of episodes, united in the style pikareski motive for travel and to read the narrator. In the course of wandering narrator finds everyday experience and the depth perception of the world. Mentor-gaucho, with his unshakable composure and folk wisdom, symbolizes the vanishing traditional way of life.
