Biography Genis Francois (Gny Franois)
(1861-1959) was born on December 17, 1861 in Baccarat (near Nancy, Lorraine). He studied law at the University of Nancy. In 1901 he was appointed professor of law, and in 1919 dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Nancy. Among the works Zhenya - Methods of Interpretation and Sources of Private Law (Mthode d'interprtation et sources en droit priv positif, 1899) and Science and Technology of positive private law (Science et technique du droit priv positif, in 4 vols., 1914-1924 ).
Zhenya advanced the theory, which he called "free scientific research '. A judge examining the case, should feel bound by rules of written law in so far as the text of the law it is clear. In other cases, the judge must, having considered the social and economic circumstances of the case, to find the most equitable solution to the problem. Theory Zhenya had an impact on the general principles for the establishment of the code and regulations, as well as methods of their application.
Zhenya He died in Nancy December 16, 1959.
