Biography CARL XV
(1826-1872) Born May 3, 1826 in Stockholm, the son of Oscar I. In 1857, became regent when his father, and two years later King. During his reign has taken some important reforms, including utilities (1862), church (1863), judicial (1864), the reform of criminal law (1864) and the electoral system (1865). According to the law on elections to the Swedish Riksdag chetyrehsoslovnogo old system was replaced by a bicameral legislature. In 1863-1864 Charles acted as a champion of the Swedish intervention in the conflict with Denmark, Prussia, Austria and the other Germanic states, but his attempts to move to the decisive actions were stopped by the Swedish Government. Karl XV died in MalmцІ 18 September 1872.
