Enrico Caruso (Caruso Enrico)

Born February 25, 1873 in Naples. Despite the prohibition of parents who wanted to see the son of an engineer, Caruso had in his youth had chosen to musician. In the 15 years since the death of his mother, he began to earn a living, speaking at church feasts, and then, while serving in the Army, his voice made such an impression on the authorities that he had been granted a teacher of singing. Caruso Opera debut on 16 November 1894: he made in the opera by Francesco Morelli Friend (L'Amico Francesco) at Naples' Teatro Nuovo ". After numerous tours in Europe, Caruso made his debut in London (1902), and then in New York in the party in the Duke of Mantua Verdi Rigoletto ( 'Metropolitan Opera', 23 November 1903). Since then he becomes the main star of the theater 'Metropolitan Opera'. Great Caruso repertoire includes the major parties of a number of Italian and French operas, and he convincingly and eloquently embodied their characters on stage. Last time in the theater's 'Metropolitan Opera' singer appeared on Dec. 24, 1920. Caruso died in Naples on Aug. 2, 1921.
