Biography LEMBRUK Wilhelm (Lehmbruck Wilhelm)
(1881-1919) Born January 4, 1881 in Duisburg in the family of miner. In 1895 he began studying art at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf, in 1910 went to Paris. Following the classic teachings of the German sculptor and art theorist Adolf von Hildebrand, Lembruk focused on the image of the naked human body. Since 1910 he joined the expressionism and in his sculptures using techniques of deformation of figures, especially the elongation of proportions. His sculptor has always sought to give a special spirituality. In Germany he is known as the author and etchings. Lembruk committed suicide in Berlin on March 25, 1919.
