Biography MANSARAY Nicolas Franö¿ois (Mansart Nicolas Franois)
(1598-1666)
Mansart was born in Paris on January 23, 1598, studied at C. De Bros. In 1635 received an order from the Duke of Orleans at the end and finish the castle in Blois, where he created the famous spiral staircase. Many of the buildings built by Mansart and were crowned with a high roof, which is now on its behalf is called a mansard, although this type of roof has already been used previously in France. Perfect example of such a roof - the palace of Maisons-Laffitte (1642-1651). Among other works Mansart - Hotel de Toulouse, the Hotel Mazarin and the Paris church of Val de Grace, completed his project Lemerse and Le Myuetom. Mansart died in Paris on September 23, 1666.
