Born in 1557. Pupil of William Byrd received a Bachelor of Music at Oxford University (1588), and a few years became a soloist of the Royal Chapel (1592). He also served as organist at the Cathedral of St.. Egidiya, and then in St. Peter. Paul (London). In 1598 Elizabeth I granted him a license provided by 21 years monopoly on the printing of music paper and music (earlier this right belonged to Thomas Tallis and Byrd). In Morley's list of works includes: 5 notebooks madrigals and canzonet (2-5-Tones), . book of songs for voice, . lute and bass viol, . several pieces for instrumental ensemble, . works for keyboard instruments, . Anglican church services, . series of spiritual chants and motets in Latin and English texts,

Morley edited and published in England, the Italian collections of madrigals, published a Triumph of Oriana (The Triumphes of Oriana, . 1601) - anthology, . which included the works of 24 composers, . on, . obviously, . The latest edition is among the earliest publications of ensemble music with a definite composition tools: in this case, lute, guitar, panduri, zither, flute, alto and bass viol. In Simple and accessible introduction to the practice of composing music (Plaine and Easie Introduction to Practicall Musicke, 1597) - one of the most important treatises of the Renaissance - Morley announced himself as a well-rounded musician. It is not simply facilitated the spread of Italian style, but also developed his special kind of characteristic of the Elizabethan time. Morley - one of the few composers of England, whose works have been published at home and abroad. About his life almost nothing is known, attempts to prove that he was a friend of Shakespeare, have failed. The date of his death, allegedly called the 1603.
