Born in Tel Aviv on October 21, 1948, lived in Philadelphia (USA) before returning to Israel in 1967. In 1972, after serving in the army of Israel, Netanyahu returned to the U.S. to complete his education and received a Bachelor of Architecture (1975) and Master of Business Administration (1976) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 1984, Netanyahu became the representative of Israel to the UN and held that post until 1988, when he was elected to Parliament from the Likud Party. Within four years, served as the representative of Israel to the UN. Subsequently he was Minister of Foreign Affairs (1988-1991) in Shamir's cabinet and the chief representative of Israel during the Gulf War (1990-1991). At the Congress in March 1993, Likud's Netanyahu received 52% votes and became the party's candidate for prime minister
