Biography OBERT Herman (Oberth Hermann)
Born June 25, 1894 in Hermanshtadte (Austro-Hungary, now Sibiu, Romania). In the First World War fought on the Eastern Front. Was wounded, he returned to Transylvania. He studied at the universities of Cluj, Munich, GцTttingen and Heidelberg. The first liquid fuel rocket launched May 7, 1931, near Berlin. In 1924-1938 he was a professor in the College Medias, worked at the Vienna Institute of Technology. In 1940 received Germanic nationality. In 1941-1943 was a consultant of the military research center at Peenemц+nde, participated in the creation of V-2 rocket (V-2) under the leadership V.fon Brown. In 1943 he was transferred to Reynsdorf (Germany), worked in the factories of explosives to create a solid-fuel missiles. In 1945-1948 conducted private research in Switzerland, in 1950-1953 lived in Italy, developing the missiles for the Navy. In 1955 at the invitation of von Braun Obert arrived in the U.S., worked in Huntsville (pc. Alabama). In 1958 he returned to Germany. In 1963 Obert was elected an honorary doctor of Berlin Technical University
