(1846-1891)
Born June 27, 1846 in Eyvondeyle (County Wicklow, Ireland). He began political activities in 1875 as a member of Parliament from Mita. Took part in the obstruction of the legislative assembly, to secure the support of the Irish national movement.
In 1879, he agreed to become president of the Land League, created by M. DeWitt. In the general election in 1880 was elected chairman of the parliamentary faction, speaking for the Home Rule. He was arrested and jailed for appeals to the peasants refuse to pay rent

. In 1882, Parnell has reached an agreement with Gladstone on, . that the Government amend the land laws of Ireland, . and released from prison Parnell performs the dissolution of the Land League and Irish National League and in general supports the policy of the Liberal Party,
. In 1885-1886 actually helped to preserve the balance of power between the Liberal and Conservative parties, leaning towards an alliance with the Liberals.

After the failure of the Parliament of the first Home Rule Bill of 1886 Parnell withdrew from active work. Once again, hit the center of public attention when in 1887 the Times' published a series of articles entitled 'Parnellizm and crime', accusing him of having links with terrorists, in particular with a number of high-profile crimes committed in 1883. The newspaper published and facsimiles of letters, allegedly written by his hand. In 1888-1889, these accusations were studied by a special commission, which came to the conclusion that the letter was a forgery.

Parnell died in Brighton (Sussex) 6 October 1891.
