Biography MOM Georges (Rouault George)
Born in Paris on May 27, 1871. In his youth he studied under master stained paintings first appeared when his unusual artistic ability. He studied at the School of Fine Arts, where was the favorite disciple of Gustave Moreau. Individual style of the artist, which was formed in 1903, is remarkable for its power and energy. The forms in his paintings simplified or distorted, outlined with thick black outlines and painted in deep vibrant colors. This technique has emerged as a remembrance of the work in the studio the first teacher Rouault - stained. The artist skillfully uses this style to whip tragedy to create paintings on religious subjects, or to identify some mysterious force of evil in the depiction of contemporary characters. In 1910 he took his first solo exhibition.
In addition to paintings on religious subjects, it should be noted the implementation of them from 1903 to 1907 a series of images of prostitutes and a series of Judges. These characters are interpreted by Rouault as the embodiment of evil and moral decay in modern society. In the formation of attitude towards these people played an important role of his friendship with the writer Leon Bloy and treatment to Christianity. Rouault used in his work and image of the clown, who, apparently, symbolized for him the fate of the artist or the prophet, separated from their fellow. About his own works of Rouault worked very long, often more than twenty years. In 1947 he burned 313 of his paintings, which are considered bad. Among the graphic works of the master should be given a series of Miserere and War, created in 1916-1918 and 1920-1927, as well as color prints of the 1930's. Rouault died in Paris on February 13, 1958.
