Born July 28, 1938 in Lima, in a family of immigrants from Japan. He graduated from the State Agrarian University in Lima, he studied in graduate school at University of Strasbourg (France), then at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He returned to Peru, worked as an agronomist, was subsequently appointed rector of the State Agricultural University. He has also worked in television, gave an overview of the economic situation of the country. In 1990 founded the Party 'Cambio 90' ( 'Changes in 1990') and created a sensation by winning the election June 10, 1990. As president, took a number of programs aimed at reducing poverty, ending the guerrilla war and the fight against drug trafficking. In April 1992, declared a state of emergency, dissolved the Congress and the courts, suspending certain provisions of the constitution and imposed censorship. His actions were supported by the army and the majority of the population. In November 1992 the National Congress was elected coalition, . speaking in support of Fujimori, . and in October 1993, voters adopted the proposed new constitution by the Congress, . boiled down to a much greater concentration of power in the hands of the government,
. In April 1995, Fujimori was elected for a second term, and in December 1999 announced his intention to run for third term. In March 2000, received thousands of demonstrations against the re-election of Fujimori, on charges of violating human rights and the exorbitant increase in the power of secret services in the community. Nevertheless, in the presidential election of April 9, 2000 Fujimori won a majority of votes and the second-round, won by the refusal to participate in the election of Alejandro Toledo for six days before the vote. May 28, 2000 Fujimori received 51% of the votes and won the election
