Karl has not yet turned 9 years old when he began speaking publicly. In 1800, Beethoven, heard the boy's game, offered to give him lessons, classes continued intermittently for over 10 years. During this period, Czerny also worked at I. Hummel, and M. Clementi.
Beethoven entrusted Czerny first performance in Vienna of his Third Piano Concerto. Despite such encouraging recognition of his pianistic talent, Czerny soon ceased concert performances, and after 1815 devoted himself entirely to composition pedagogy and.

Czerny was an only child and never married. As a teacher he had no equal. Among the famous virtuosi of the first half of the 19. difficult to find a pianist who has not passed a school Czerny. The greatest of the disciples was Czerny F. Liszt.

The most valuable thing in his musical heritage - teaching composition. Czerny wrote almost all musical genres: he - by masses, requiem, symphonies, concertos, chamber works, songs, and many concert pieces for piano. The total number of its opuses close to a thousand, with many compositions contain up to fifty or more rooms. He also wrote a textbook composition Complete theoretical and practical teaching of composition (Vollstndige theoretisch-praktische Kompositionslehre, 1849), Essay on the history of music (Umriss der ganzen Musik-Geschichte, 1851) and memoirs.
