(mind. app. 1580)
At the beginning of the reign of Elizabeth I served as assistant to the London printer R. Wolfe, in 1548 to collect materials for work on world history and the universal cosmography. After the death of Wolfe in 1573 continued this work, supported by the London publishers. The work, entitled The Chronicles of England, Scotland and Ireland, in four parts (The Chronicles of England, Scotlande, and Irelande, in four parts) was released in 1578 (on the front page listed 1577). In his description of England, William Harrison and Holinshed written history of Britain from November until 1575, as well as descriptions and stories about Scotland and Ireland, transferred or borrowed from Holinshed from various sources. In 1587 came a revised and enlarged edition. Many historical scenes in the plays of Shakespeare and other Elizabethan derived from the Chronicles of Holinshed.
