He worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature in g. Chistyakov (1951-1962 gg.). Since 1962. Pedagogical Institute, teacher Smolensky (Pedagogical University): Assistant, associate professor, professor, head of the department. The main direction of research Used. are questions of history of Russian poetry of the eighteenth and twentieth centuries. and the theory of verse. Known as the author of original research on works of Pushkin, Nekrasov, Blok, Boris Pasternak, Tvardovsky Rylenkova, D. Samoilov et al. In the theory of the line B. developing statistical methods for analysis of poetic language of Pushkin, Nekrasov, Gumilev, Pasternak, D. Samoilov. B. created Smolensk philological school of study of historical and cultural ties between Russian poetry and the theory of verse. Under his leadership, defended 13 candidate disertatsiy.B. - Member of the Pushkin Society, member of Pushkin's international scientific symposia and conferences. Member of the Union of Russian Writers (author of the autobiographical novel "Rusty" (1993), memories of the various poets. Published over 400 papers. B. - Compiler, commentator, editor of many publications.
