Biography BER Nikolay
(27.HII.1863, St. Petersburg - 17.III.1926, g. Elnya Smolenko area) He graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory (1889) for the classes of Professor AL. Henselt (piano) and YI. Johannsen (composition). In 1892-1917 he. - Chorus Master of the Bolshoi Theater (z. Moscow). Living in g. Elnya B. engaged in active social and musical activities (organization of the music school, the base of the memorial hall MI. Glinka Museum in Smolensk, teacher and musical education). In 80-90-ies. Nineteenth century. recorded over 500 tunes to the texts of folk songs collected by local historian and folklorist Smolensk VN. Dobrovolsky (see). The records are stored (in part) in the collections of the State Literature Museum in Moscow. Several melodies of gypsy songs published in the annex to the work of VN. Dobrovolsky "Kiselevsky Gypsy" (St. Petersburg, 1908). B. known as the author of songs and arrangements of folk songs for voice and piano.
