Biography Efremov Mikhail G.
(11.III.1897, g.Tarusa Kaluga province - 19.IV.1942, near the village. Zary Vyazemsky district of Smolensk region).
In the Red Army from 1918. During the Civil War commanded an infantry brigade and division. He graduated from the Military-Political Academy (1930), Military Academy. Frunze (1933). In 1937-40 he. commanded the forces of a number of military districts. Since 1941. 1-st Deputy Inspector General of the Red Army Infantry. During the Great Patriotic War, the commander of the 21 th, 10 th armies, then commander of the Bryansk Front, October 1941. Commander of the 33rd Army. Participated in Rzhev - Vyazemskaya operations 1942. Mortally wounded in battle April 19, 1942, Mr.. during the breakthrough of the military forces of the environment. Buried in Vyazma. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, two Orders of Red Banner, Order of Labor Red Banner, two Orders of Red Banner of the Azerbaijan SSR. In the central square g.Vyazmy bearing his name, a monument (sculptor EV. Vucetich, architect YA.B. Belopol'skii).
