Biography Leo KREVZA Zhevussky
(date and place of birth unknown - 1638, Smolensk)
Place of the petty gentry to the Belarusian Podlachia (currently Bialystok Voivodship RP). Being a poor man, his hair cut in the Vilna monks of the monastery of St.. Trinity and took the name Leo. In 1617, Mr.. novices was elected Archimandrite. Pursued a policy aimed at the adoption uniatism. In support of the Brest union in 1596, Mr.. K. written apologetichno-polemical work "The protection of ecclesiastical unity, or evidence that shows why the Greek church should be combined with the Latin" (1617, Wilno, in Polish. K. elected at the congregation protoarhimandritom (General) Order of Basilian. Since 1623, Mr.. - Archbishop of Smolensk and Chernigov. In Smolensk K. lived about 15 years and some time was a competitor Uniate Orthodox Bishop Isaiah Kapinskogo (last in 1631, Mr.. was elected Metropolitan of Kiev and left Smolensk).
