HAMMERS Vladimir Gerasimov

(28.VII.1903, Vitebsk province - 14.II.1976, Smolensk)
Honored Scientist of RSFSR (1965). Active participant in the Great Patriotic War. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Smolensk in 1928. He worked at the Department patanatomii; in 1939-41 - Associate Professor patanatomii, in 1941-45. - Chief pathologist of the West and 3rd Byelorussian fronts. In 1945-76 he. - Head of the Department of pathological anatomy of the Smolensk Medical Institute. In the postwar period, M. made great efforts to restore the department. Peru M. owns more than 80 scientific papers on the problems of bone pathology, lomerulonefritu and enteric diseases of early childhood. Author of 2 monographs. Professor M. prepared 30 candidates and 9 doctors. In 1945 - 1976 he. - Chairman of the Smolensk Oblast Scientific Society of Pathologists. He was a board member of the All-Union scientific societies of pathologists and nephrologists, a member of the editorial boards of the journals 'Archives of Pathology', 'The Soviet medicine'. He was awarded 11 government awards, including the Order of the Red Star, World War II degree, Red Banner of Labor, Badge of Honor, medals.
