Biography NIKITIN Paul Eliseevich
(dates of life and other biographical information is not specified) The author of "Memoirs of Smolensk (1845) and" Stories of Smolensk (1848). While working on his "History", H. relied on the numerous works of predecessors, but few have worked with sources, not based on archival materials and documents. One of the sources of his book was "The History of the provincial city of Smolensk" N.A. Murzakevicha. At the edge of historiography "History of Mr.. Smolensk has received a negative assessment as an example of alleged plagiarism. However, being weak in the scientific sense, an extensive compilation of H. contained the most comprehensive collection of information on the history of Smolensk, which have long been used as an ordinary readers and researchers. The content of this work has traditionally accounted for the war, diplomatic negotiations, the act of grand dukes and kings, the construction of churches, monasteries, fortresses, the change of power and the church hierarchs.
