Chariton, Chariton, presumably, I in. BC. e., dates back as I or II. Mr.. e., Greek writer. The author of the novel in 8 books on Haree and Callirhoe, the most ancient of the surviving Greek novels entirely. According to the information contained in the introduction to the product, X. came from Aphrodite in Caria, was secretary of the speaker Athenagoras. Of the novel X. is a love story, unfolding in Sicily in V. BC. e. It involves historical figures (the Persian king Artaxerxes II, his wife Statira, Siracusa strategist Hermocrates, father of the heroine).

X. quite freely interprets the history, allowing many inaccuracies and anachronisms, but the local color conveys very accurately. Composite Technology X. simple: it describes events in chronological order, without deviation, and inserts. At times it is repeated often by predicting events that must occur.
