Biography HROMATSY (Chromatius)
Hromatsy, Chromatius, mind. app. 407 g. n. e., Greek Christian writer, Bishop of Aquileia (387-407), was close to Jerome and Rufino, who corresponded with him, and he devoted some of his works. H. was familiar with John Chrysostom and also corresponded with him. Later X. defended him before the Emperor, Arkadi. H. was associated with the ascetic movement in Akvilд?. From works X. survived 25 sermons on the Gospel of Matthew, homilite the 8 blessings (Sermo de octo beatitudinibus) and 31 newly discovered homilite.
