M ihail Stepanovich Bochkarev, captain, battalion commander, 95 th Infantry Regiment (32 th Infantry Division, 1 st Army). Born August 1, 1904 in the village of New Buras Novoburasskogo District, Saratov Region. Russian. Graduated two classes of rural, school. From 1920 to 1925 he worked as a shoemaker in artel Soyuzkozhprom ". In 1925 he was drafted into the Red Army. In 1931 graduated from the snipers in the courses "The Shot".
In July and August 1938 participated in the battle near Lake Hassan. After the end of hostilities commanded a rifle regiment. In 1940-1941 he studied at the Military Academy named M.V. Frunze. In July 1941, took part in battles on the Western Front. Wounded easy 6 and 8 August 1938 at Lake Hassan and hard-July 28, 1941 under Yelnia. At the end of July 1938 Japanese troops violated the Soviet frontier and captured Zaozerny and unmarked, with a view to establish a base here for a blow to Vladivostok
. Part 1 of th Red Banner army were supposed to launch an offensive on August 6 in order to fully defeat the enemy.
The morning dawned rainy August 6, the offensive was delayed. Only in the afternoon the weather improved and have emerged from the fog Zaozerny and unnamed, who were to storm the battalion captain Bochkareva. After taking the hill five days ago, the Japanese turned them into powerful centers of resistance.
Silence was broken thunder of artillery. In the sky roaring airplanes. Dozens of bombers dropped bombs on enemy positions caliber.

The blood rushed to a person battalion commander, but a minute later with a white bandage on his head, he again appeared among the men. In a powerful burst of bochkarevtsy stormed to the front line of defense and in the evening captured the first trench of the enemy.
At dawn the next day suddenly opened fire at the Japanese batteries, located across the river Tumen-Ula. Samurai out of their trenches and with cries of "Banzai!" rushed to the positions of the battalion.
When the Japanese came to our trenches, rifle shots cracked, resounding hit with shot gun. Like a prostrate, fell to the ground samurai. But the survivors have continued to creep up to our trenches, and soon came close enough that you could see their evil person. Then the signal Bochkareva thrown hand grenades.
