. Atkarsk Saratov region in a peasant family. Russian. He graduated from the 8 classes of unified labor school. In 1920-1923 and 1941-1945 he served in the Soviet Army. On the eve of World War II worked as an accountant breeding station in the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Republic.

From August 1941 to December 1943 had fought in the South and the North Caucasus Front. He took part in battles near Rostov, in the North Caucasus, in the release of the Taman Peninsula and the Crimea. Seriously injured and suffered a concussion in December 1943 near Kerch. For military distinctions awarded the Order of the Red Star (1943) and the medal "For Defense of the Caucasus.

. P. Galkin lived and worked in Mr.. Ordzhonikidze (now Vladikavkaz). He died in September 1953.

On the night of October 31, 1943 came the ships. The soldiers silently loaded machine guns, antitank guns, boxes of grenades and ammunition on motor-boats, barges and boats. At three o'clock the ships headed for Eltigen.

By dawn of the 318 th Division in the area Eltigen and Reed-Burun took foothold in size six kilometers wide and two deep.

In the morning the enemy threw against the paratroopers of the two infantry divisions. At the positions taken by the group Galkina, move more infantry companies from the three tanks.
