. Born November 8, 1921 in the village Kurganka now Shirokovskoe region Dnipropetrovsk region in a peasant family. Ukrainetz. Member of the CPSU since 1944. Graduated high school 7. He worked as an accountant at a factory in the city of Krivoy Rog. In the Red Army from April 1940. In 1941 he graduated from the 1-S Kachin Red Banner Military Aviation Pilot School in the AF Myasnikov.
Member of the Great Patriotic War from June 1941. He fought at Bryansk, Stalingrad, Southern Front. Commander of the 9 th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment (6 th Guards Fighter Air Division, 8 th Air Army, the Southern Front) Komsomolets Guard Lieutenant Pogorelov ms. spring of 1943 on the outskirts of Rostov-on-Don in a dogfight down two Nazi bomber rammed a third.
