In 1937 he graduated from the 7 th Stalingrad Military Aviation School of Pilots. He served as a junior pilot, flight commander, deputy commander of Squadron 21 Fighter Regiment.
Member of the Great Patriotic War from June 1941. He flew LaGG-3. Captain Sidorov I.D. by July 1943 made 400 sorties, 130 combat aircraft shot down in person 16 and in a group battle 7 enemy aircraft.
