He participated in battles at Khalkhin Goal in 1939 and in the Russo-Finnish War 1939 - 1940. He took part in defensive battles of the first period of the war, the Battle of Kursk, the liberation of Belarus, Poland, defeating the enemy on the territory of East Prussia. Now the Germans were approaching Shamaeva from all sides. Senior sergeant fought off the enemy until the last possible. However, the forces were clearly unequal. The Germans came close to the Braves and threw his trench with hand grenades. Rupture of one of their comrade was killed, a senior sergeant wounded in the leg. Not paying attention to the unbearable pain and the blood flooding out of the wound, he continued to fight.
Failing success, and this time, the Nazis retreated to the shelter. Soon, they again rushed to Shamaeva. At this point the machine gun stopped - ran out of bullets. Senior sergeant gathered his last strength, all his will, stood up, with the force threw discharged machine in the face of the soldier and knocked him off his feet. There was a pistol shot, but the officer missed. Shamaev pounced on him. Fight ensued, during which Senior Sergeant fascists managed to strike a fatal blow with a knife.
At that time arrived, our tanks. They picked Shamaeva unconscious and sent to the field hospital division. Around the trench brave tankers counted 84 corpses fascist.
