Heron of Alexandria; Heron, I in. n. e., a Greek engineer and mathematician. Time of his life is uncertain, known only that he was quoting Archimedes (who died in 212 g. BC. BC.), it is the most quoted Papp (ca. 300 g. n. e.). n. e. Engaged in geometry, mechanics, hydrostatics, optics, invented the prototype of the steam engine and precise leveling instruments.
