Atkov Oleg

Astronaut Russia. Born May 9, 1949 in the village Khvorostyanka Hvorostyanskogo area of the Kuibyshev (now Samara) region. In 1973 he graduated from First Moscow Medical Institute named after Sechenov, then internship and post-graduate Research Institute of Cardiology-Union Cardiological Scientific Center, Academy of Medical Sciences. From 1973 to 1977 he worked at the Institute of Clinical Cardiology behalf Myasnikov, then the All-Union Cardiological Center of the Academy of Medical Sciences. Since 1975, he studied the cardiovascular system of astronauts performing long flights. In 1977 he enlisted in the detachment of Soviet cosmonauts. It has been a full course of general space training and preparing to fly aboard the type of the Soyuz T and orbital stations Salyut. February 8, 1984 began to fly in space together with Leonid Denisovich Kizim and Vladimir Soloviev in as a cosmonaut-researcher Soyuz T-10B ".

During the 237 days he worked on board the orbital station Salyut-7 ". Held a large complex of research and experiments aboard the station. Hero of the Soviet Union (Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet on October 2, 1984). Awarded the Order of Lenin and medals. Awarded the highest award of the Republic of India - Order "Kirti Chakra". Winner of the USSR State Prize in 1989 for developing methods echocardiographic diagnosis and control of the cardiovascular system and their implementation in practice of health. Laureate of Lenin Komsomol 1978. He was awarded the diploma of the International Society and Federation of Cardiology (MOFK) and the organizing committee of the IX World Congress of Cardiology.
