Biography Lev Stepanovich Demin
Astronaut Russia. Born January 11, 1926 in Moscow. He started working at a factory lathe drilling machines in 1942. In 1945 he graduated from the Air Force Special School and enrolled in flying school Borisoglebsk. For reasons of health, was expelled from school and sent to the Military Aviation Technical College. Prematurely graduated college, he served in the Soviet Army. In 1951 he entered, and in 1956 he graduated from the Air Force Engineering Academy named after NE Zhukovsky. As one of the most capable students were left in the Academy. Then he worked in the Air Force Institute. In 1963 he enlisted in the detachment of Soviet cosmonauts (1963 Group of the Air Force? 2).

It has been a full course of general space training and preparing to fly to the ship type "Sunrise" and "Soyuz". Was included in the backup crew of the spaceship "Voskhod-3, whose flight was canceled. In the 70 years preparing to fly aboard the space station type "Diamond". In July 1974, was part of the backup crew during the flight of spacecraft "Soyuz-14". From 26 to 28 August 1974, together with Gennady Sarafanova flew in space as a flight engineer of Soyuz-15 ". Hero of the Soviet Union (Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet on September 2, 1974). He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of Labor Red Banner, medals and foreign orders and medals. Honorary Citizen of Magadan, Kaluga, Gagarin, Tambov (Russia), Tselinograd (Kazakhstan).
