Research interests: in 1962-1971 he. studied the tectonic structure of Neogene deposits and orogenic development Kopetdag. In 1972-1980 he. conducted research in methods of geological interpretation of space imagery to study the tectonic structure of the folded regions and search for prospective oil and gas structures. At the same time conducted the structural and geological studies in South-East Caucasus, which led to the discovery of a number of shear zones. In 1981-1990 he. engaged in detailed neotectonic studies Kura Basin on the basis of ground observations and interpretation of space images. The result was a model of deep structure and drafted recommendations for finding nefteperspektivnyh zones at depths of depression. In 1990-1992. worked on the drafting of the Tectonic Map of Europe at scale 1:5000000 Academy of Sciences committee on international tectonic maps. For many years conducted research on the analysis of orogenic geokinematiki the Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt, which culminated in a series of articles and are reflected in his doctoral dissertation.
