Cormorants (real name - Friedman) Gregory (p. 1923), novelist, essayist.
Born on September 11 in Voronezh. Early lost his parents, was raised in a family uncle. Children and youth were held in Voronezh. When the war started, an external student passed the exam for 10 classes (rumor has it that the front will take only finished school). The front was the main objective, which could be done only in winter, and being in the evacuation. Popal in howitzer artillery regiment on the North-Western Front, then was sent to artillery school (accelerated release). Officer returned to the front, commanded a battery, fighting to the end of the war in the south-western front. Impressions and experiences of life at the front will form the basis of his future works.
Cormorants In 1946-51 he studied at the Literary Institute. M. Gorky (in the seminar to. Paustovski). The first war novel "South of the main attack" (1957), "Span of the earth" (1959) were favorably received by readers and critics.
