Mezhirov Aleksandr Petrovich (p. 1923), poet, translator.
Born on September 26 in Moscow to the family lawyer (his father's second education - a medic). The family paid much attention to upbringing and education of her son. Yet the World War II abruptly changed all the plans - in 18 years, the future poet goes to the front, participates in the defense of Leningrad. After being seriously wounded in 1943 and long-term treatment Mezhirova the reserve.
In 1943 - 48 studies at the Literary Institute. Gorky. In 1947 the first book of poems - "The road is far". This was followed by collections: "The Communists, forward!" (1950), "The Return" (1955), "Horseshoe" (1957), "windshield" (1961), "Ladozhka ice" (1965), "Swan Lane" (1968) and others.
Mezhirov active and in 1970 - 80-ies. In the 1970's published collections of poems "A short meeting," "The shape of things" and others, in 1980 - "A thousand little things", "Closed-turn", "Prose in verse". In 1989 he went poems for children.
A special place in his work took transfers. Visit to Georgia has left a deep imprint on his work - his poetry appear Georgian motifs, several of his poems dedicated to Georgia and its people. His pen belong exemplary translations of Georgian poets, published in the Gorge "(1984). He has translated many poems by contemporary Lithuanian poet Yu Martsinkyavichusa, which has become due to these transfers very well known among Russian-speaking readers. Lives and works in Moscow.
