Gaykis Leonid Yakovlevich (1898-1937), diplomat. In 1921 joined the People's Commissariat of Foreign Affairs (NCID). In 1921 - 2.1 Secretary of the Russo-Ukrainian-Belarusian delegation in the mixed border of the Soviet-Polish commission. In 1922-23 he worked in the central apparatus NCID. In 1936 Spain sent to counselor of the embassy, in 1937 Ambassador to Spain. One of the main Republican political consultant government, an active conductor policy I.V. Stalin in the region. In 1937, recalled to Moscow and arrested. Sentenced to death. Shot. He was posthumously rehabilitated.
