Biography PROSKURA Joseph I.
Proskurov Joseph I. (1907 - 28.10.1941), one of the leaders of intelligence, Lieutenant General of Aviation (1940), Hero of the Soviet Union (21/6/1937). Educated at the Kharkov Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture and School of Military Pilots. He worked as a farm laborer in the village on the Dnieper River Khortytsya, then a laborer. In 1927 he joined the Communist Party (b). Pilot-instructor, in 1940 the commander of a bomber squadron. Since Sept.. 1936 to May 1938 commanded a bomber aviation brigade in Spain. Since 1937 member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. From 1938 the commander of 2-Army special-purpose. Since 1938 member of the Supreme Military Council of the Red Army. 14/4/1939 appointed deputy. Commissar of Defense of the USSR and the beginning. 5-th (intelligence) control of the WPRA. In July 1941, transferred to the post of commander of the Air Force 7-Army. His part in the early days of the Great Patriotic War, practically ceased to exist. 27/6/1941 arrested. Shot without trial, simply on the order of the People's Commissar of Internal Affairs L.P. Beria. In 1954, rehabilitated.
