Biography KONTI Leonardo (Conti)
Conti, Leonardo (Conti), (1900-1945), chief physician of the Third Reich. Born August 24, 1900 in Lugano, Switzerland. After receiving medical education, he settled in Berlin and began his practice. In 1923 he joined the SA, became the first physician storm trooper. Oversaw the creation of the Sanitary Corps CA. He was the founder of the National - Socialist Union of doctors. In 1932 he became a member of the Prussian Landtag. In 1939, Hitler appointed Conti Chief of the Imperial Health and the State - Secretary of the Ministry of Health of Prussia. In these positions Conti was responsible for the destruction of large numbers of mentally - and the terminally ill during the campaign to "cleanse the Nordic race". In 1941 he was elected to the Reichstag, he was awarded the title Gruppenfuhrer SS (general - lieutenant). In 1945, committed suicide in his Nuremberg prison.
