Erich Ludendorff (Ludendorff) (9.4.1865, Krushevnya, near Poznan - 20/12/1937, Tutzing, Bavaria), the German military and political figure, General Corps (1916). Born in the landlords' family. He graduated from the Cadet Corps (1881). From 1894 he served in the General Staff. In 1908-12 Operations Chief of Staff. In the period 1 st World War, 1914-18, first Chief Quartermaster-2-Army, . from 23 August until November 1914 - Chief of Staff, 8 Army, . Chief of Staff of the Eastern Front (November 1914) and 1-st Quartermaster-General of the Supreme Command Staff (August 1916),
. As a close aide to General P. Hindenburg, Ludendorff in August 1914 actually led actions on the Eastern Front and, since August 1916 - the actions of the armed forces of Germany, imposing a regime of military dictatorship. In March - July 1918 unsuccessfully tried to break the resistance of the repeated attacks of the Anglo-French troops on the Western Front. October 26, 1918 he retired, after the armistice in November 1918 he emigrated to Sweden. Spring of 1919 he returned to Germany and became the leader of the most extreme of counter-revolutionary circles, was an active participant Kapp Putsch of 1920. Closely associated with the National Socialists, in November 1923 co-chaired with A. Hitler putsch in Munich ended in failure. In 1924 was elected to the Reichstag from the National Socialist Party.
