Biography LUARSAB II
Luarsab II (1606-1614) - King of Kartli. After the death of George X took the throne of his son Luarsab II. In June 1609 the Ottomans invaded in Kartli. King Luarsab with a small retinue was in Tshireti (Kvemo Kartli). Learning of this, the Turks decided to take him prisoner. At the village Kvelta Ottomans seized the village priest Tevdore and ordered him to hold them in Tshireti. Tevdore took them another way and took away from Tshireti. When the enemies have guessed the fraud, the priest subjected to horrible torture, and then beheaded him. Heroic deed Tevdore Luarsabu II provided an opportunity to gain time and prepare to resist. Tsar's army under the command of the Tbilisi Mouravi George Saakadze broke under the Ottomans Tashiskari.
In 1612 Shah Abbas summoned the king of Kakheti Teimuraz I and II alleged Luarsaba hunt. But the kings did not come to him and decided to act together.
